“Road To The Sun” by Keira Andrews

about

A desperate father. A lonely ranger. Unexpected love that can’t be denied.

Jason Kellerman’s life revolves around his eight-year-old daughter. Teenage curiosity with his best friend led to Maggie’s birth, her mother tragically dying soon after. Insistent on raising his daughter himself, he was disowned by his wealthy family and has worked tirelessly to support Maggie—even bringing her west on a dream vacation. Only twenty-five, Jason hasn’t had time to even think about romance. So the last thing he expects is to question his sexuality after meeting an undeniably attractive park ranger.

Ben Hettler’s stuck. He loves working in the wild under Montana’s big sky, but at forty-one, his love life is non-existent, his ex-boyfriend just married and adopted, and Ben’s own dream of fatherhood feels impossibly out of reach. He’s attracted to Jason, but what’s the point? Besides the age difference and skittish Jason’s lack of experience, they live thousands of miles apart. Ben wants more than a meaningless fling.

Then a hunted criminal takes Maggie hostage, throwing Jason and Ben together in a desperate and dangerous search through endless miles of mountain forest. If they rescue Maggie against all odds, can they build a new family together and find a place to call home?

Road to the Sun is a May-December gay romance from Keira Andrews featuring adventure, angst, coming out, sexual discovery, and of course a happy ending.

review

Stop. Go back and read the blurb…again. This tells you everything you need to know. Blurbs can be tricky and more often than not, are very ambiguous. This one is perfect. It tells you all the important bits but not so much that it feels like those movie previews with all the good parts. Don’t worry, I am still going rattle on and blabber about how much I adored it because I SO did, but as far as blurbs go….this is one of the best. Pay extra attention to the last line my friends because these highlights are what make this story spectacular.

The adventures here span the entire spectrum from thrilling to chilling. It starts at the very beginning and ends with the last sentence. Crazy intense intro with a killer finish. Seriously, standing ovation for the final scene! *claps wildly*

Jason is a young father making his daughter’s dreams come true. Maggie is a nature enthusiast. She is only eight years old but she loves all things ‘outdoors’ and is over the moon when her dad takes her camping in Montana. Maggie was the result of a teen hormonal experiment and sadly, she lost her mom when she was only a few months old. It’s just her and her dad. They have a simple life but the one thing she’s not lacking in is love. She is the light of his eye and he puts her above everything. Camping in the great Glacier National Park is all that she imagined it would be until her dream becomes a nightmare. She is kidnapped by a monster and is counting on her dad and the nice park ranger to save the day. Can they rescue her before it’s too late?

love

May-December love affairs are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Though sixteen years separate these two, they are absolutely perfect for one another. Andrews demonstrates yet again, that love is boundless. Ben thought his future was all paved out in front of him until his long-term partner leaves him and captures his happily-ever-after with another man. Worst part? His ex is his boss. Ugh. Talk about painful. Ben wants to move on but finds himself stuck in a rut. When a motormouth little girl and her hottie dad come into his park, he’s jarred from his rut. He doesn’t know exactly what Jason’s story is, but he wants to find out. Before he has a chance to make his move, a horrific ordeal shatters the fragile bond that was building between the two men. Nothing matters now except saving Maggie. Ben suddenly realizes that in a matter of a week, he’s given his heart away. He’s fallen for the determined, selfless father and his shining daughter but he fears it is one-sided. Can his freshly healed heart handle another break? Or what if…maybe…Jason feels the same?

beware

This is most definitely an adventurous romance, my heart rate was high almost the entire story. It’s also a quick fall. Jason and Ben only know each other for a smattering of days and yet, I was on board the entire time.

If you don’t mind a bit of space between birthdays and a curious kid thrown into the mix, you’ll probably want to check this one out. No, not probably…you will. Yeah, just go get it. This is one ride worth taking.
