“Blue Mountain” by Cardeno C.

Exiled by his pack as a teen, Omega wolf Simon Moorehead learns to bury his gentle nature in the interest of survival. When a hulking, rough-faced Alpha catches Simon on pack territory, he tries to escape what he’s sure will be imminent death. But instead of killing him, the Alpha takes Simon home.

A man of action, Mitch Grant uproots his life to support his brother in leading the Blue Mountain pack. Mitch lives on the periphery, quietly protecting everyone, but always alone. A mate is a dream come true for Mitch, and he won’t let little things like Simon’s rejections, attacks, and insults get in their way. With patience, seduction, and genuine care, Mitch will ride out the storm while Simon slays his own ghosts and Mitch’s loneliness.

Why does that single word send shivers down my spine? Instantly my breath catches and my heart begins to race. It’s a powerful word. Similar to pack. I have given up trying to explain or justify my obsession with shifters. I love them. I love their commitment, passion, and predestined fate. I find the inner animal sharing the heart and soul of the man thrilling. I adore growling wolves declaring their dominance and confirming utmost devotion to their mate with a piercing stare or a quick bite. The words not spoken by a shifter are often my favorite. I’m not certain how I’ve missed the Blue Mountain pack before now but I’m so very pleased to have found them.
Speaking of finding…Mitch has found his mate.
Their meeting was not exactly what he envisioned, but regardless, he’s not complaining. He’s fairly accommodating for an alpha. He’s not ‘the’ alpha of the pack, his twin wears those shoes. But he holds notable rank in his new pack. The Blue Moutain pack has recently been reformed. The previous corrupt alpha was challenged and defeated. The victors have taken over the pack with a different approach by an authoritative set of brothers that made my toes curl. Fate may bring Simon into Mitch’s orbit but he’s going to have to fight like hell to keep him. Good thing he’s a natural-born fighter. Coincidentally, so is his mate. Can they make it work? Or will Simon’s troubled past block their connection? Eeeek! You should really find out!

Typically I’m severe with my opinions on the wolf/man bond. I want to feel the shift. But more than that, I want to feel the wolf simmering under the man. Despite their superficial transition, I did get what I craved with the clear cut shifter senses. Senses can make or break a shifter story for me and this a roaring success. Simon hasn’t had the easiest past and he’s never rolled over and exposed his belly…he’s not about to start now. Except, for some reason, he really wants to. His head tells him not to trust anyone but his heart disagrees. There’s something special about Mitch and he’d love to sink into those solid arms and just…see. Maybe this wolf will be different? *sigh* Yeah Simon, he’s fine *gulp* I mean, it’s gonna be just fine. Simon has denied his wolf things out of necessities but his future could be very different for both of them if he can only trust his new mate. Soon he discovers trust is love; both are unfamiliar to Simon but suddenly he aches for them. Listening to his wolf brings all sorts of emotions to the surface and I loved witnessing his recovery.

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is also licking wounds and hunting prey. Ha! Patience is not a trait I would generally associate with shifters, especially an alpha. But Mitch displays endless patience with his new mate. He craves him and would do anything for him, including…wait. Consent is so very sexy. Simon needs time to trust and accept the sudden flip-flop of his world. He’s used to wandering and relying on absolutely no one. Strangers can’t be trusted but pack’s betrayal hurts worse than a stranger’s wrongdoing. He doesn’t know Mitch but he does know how Mitch makes him feel, which is safe. I loved their timid yet resolute mating. I loved the meddlesome family and brotherly love. And I love the fact that this series isn’t over!

Wolves are driven by instinct and sometimes their sex drive…expect passion. Healing and harmony occur here…both in heart and soul. And a slow simmer bursts into a sizzling inferno.

bookisforIf you like your shifters stubborn and ridiculously bossy, this omega’s homecoming should definitely make your wishlist. Gotta run, there’s a river calling my name!
