When Jack receives a phone call from a colleague in the southeast of Tasmania with news of a newfound butterfly habitat, he and Lawson head off on another adventure. It’s not an easy trek to the location. The Franklin-Gordon National Park is famous for wild rivers, rainforests, and rocky cliff faces, and they’ll need to hike and abseil—in the dead of winter—to get to the site.
It’s no ordinary expedition because this is no ordinary butterfly, and Jack and Lawson aren’t an ordinary couple. Join Jack and Lawson on another quest in this short story of extraordinary butterflies and extraordinary love.
I do love a good surprise, don’t you? What a splendid surprise this short story was! I very much enjoyed Jack and Lawson in their first two books and mentioned that I could read about them all day long. I stand by that statement and was delighted to discover they had another journey for us to tag along on. There’s no question that this story is series dependent. The history of the first two books is necessary to fully understand this story and the dynamics of their relationship. So, if you haven’t had the pleasure of grasping the appeal behind butterflies and bowties, I strongly suggest you start at the beginning!
When a potential new butterfly pops up in the most unexpected place, there’s no one else to call except Dr. Lawson Brighton-Gale. Kind of like ghosts, there’s only one true savior. Of course, wherever Lawson is found Jack is bound to be nearby. They pack up and head back to Tasmania with winter gear this time around. Their small team battles against the mighty powers of mother nature hoping to unveil a spectacular new species. Following suit with the first part of this series, Walker delivers lots of good feels and little drama or trouble.
I appreciate solid love and this pair has proven they are a formidable force. They are tender, considerate, and genuine. And there’s nothing better than checking in on favorite couples after their exquisite happily-ever-after. I knew they were happy but seeing it with my own eyes brought me bone-deep comfort. And honestly, what more can you ask for? Well, a holiday novella would be amazing if somebody is collecting votes. *wink*
Lawson and Jack continue to share their sweet and lovestruck stares. Another Brighton-Gale threatens to steal the show. And since the pages are limited the intimacy takes different forms proving equal importance.
Walker fans, Brighton-Gale fans, or anyone looking for a healthy dose of happiness…the butterfly stops here.
